The Missions Experience

Wow!! November!! The month we are reminded to be thankful. And we have much to be thankful for as we wrap up 2024. God has blessed us with growth; size and spiritual. Glory to his name!! Thank you church for your faithfulness.

In our Bible in One Year study, we are wrapping up James and moving into I Peter. I love the end of James where God’s Word reminds that he gives grace to the humble. Then the biggest challenge, resist the devil and he will flee from us. AND that when we draw near to God, he will draw near to us. AMEN!! Join us as we wrap up the New Testament.

You can visit the website for all of  What’s Happening at FBC Charlotte. It has just been updated.

FBCC Youth Ministry News

     Hello church family,

I am writing this on Halloween, and we are preparing for a youth party at our house this evening. We aren’t really having a Halloween party but are hoping to capitalize on the only time of year when many children and families are at our front door. We will eat pizza, have a pumpkin decorating contest, and will probably play silly games, but we hope more than that goes on. As people come to get candy, we hope we can shine the light of Christ into the darkness. His light shines into the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it (John 1:5). Do you have a way you “redeem Halloween?” If so, please share it with me!

Also, you’ve probably heard of the Missions conference our church is hosting Nov 9 and 10. I hope you will make it a point to attend. Even better, invite a friend to come with you! It isn’t only for missionaries. It’s for Christians, and you will be encouraged. You may be surprised by what God does in you! There will be classes for all ages and childcare will also be available. May the Lord be glorified in his church!

A Word From Pastor Duane

Thank You Lord for your wonderful presence, blessing, provision, care and hope!  Thank you, First Baptist Church Charlotte, for what you are doing for the Kingdom of God.

As we enter November may I challenge you to not only be thankful but to also establish thankfulness as a habit in your life.

Please set aside Saturday November 9 and Sunday November 10 to participate in our Missions Focus Weekend.  Saturday from 3:30-5:30 pm we will train you to share the gospel of Jesus with others.  This is for EVERYONE!  Staff, deacons, Bible study teachers, as well as everyone else.  After the training we will fellowship together, hearing from Dr. Pate from Gateway Seminary a former International Mission Board (IMB) missionary.  We will also give you the opportunity to visit “booths” where missionaries and ministries we partner with will be highlighted.  That afternoon and evening will be a wonderful blessing and provide information on what God is using our church to accomplish through missions.  I look forward to seeing you there, fellowshipping together and celebrating God’s activity through our church.  Finally, Sunday morning, Dr. Pate will preach.  You won’t want to miss this!

Please also join us Sunday evening November 24th beginning at 5pm as we spend time celebrating what God has done and is doing in our lives.  Bring your favorite soup (I hope it is cool by then – insert wink here) a dessert and let’s CELEBRATE!

Thank you for the Pastor Appreciation gift you provided for Sharon and me!  We love you and are so blessed to serve you and serve with you!

                 Happy Thanksgiving!

                              ~~ Pastor Duane
